報告簡介:The presentation will address the efficient modeling techniques for linear and nonlinear ultrasonic guided waves in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). It will progressively cover the modeling of wave propagation in simple structures to complex scenarios. Several useful modeling strategies will be presented: (1) analytical modeling and WaveFormRevealer 1-D (WFR-1D); (2) effective non-reflective boundary for Lamb wave simulation; (3) Combined Analytical FEM Approach (CAFA) and WaveFormRevealer 2-D (WFR-2D); (4) GPU-parallelized Local Interaction Simulation Approach (LISA) for waves in complex composite structures; (5) LISA for the simulation of nonlinear interactions between guided waves and fatigue cracks. This talk will finish with conclusions and outlook for future work.
報告人簡介:Dr. Yanfeng Shen received his B.Sc. in Engineering Mechanics from Wuhan University, Hubei, China in 2010. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of South Carolina, Columbia, USA in 2014. During the pursuit of his Ph.D., Dr. Shen worked as a Research Assistant in the Laboratory for Active Materials and Smart Structures (LAMSS) directed by Professor Victor Giurgiutiu. Then, he was recruited by the University of Michigan and became a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. Dr. Shen just started as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute in 2016. His research interest covers structural health monitoring, guided waves, nonlinear ultrasonics, active materials and smart structures, and advanced computational mechanics. He has been publishing and presenting his work in top tier archival journals and at international conferences. Dr. Shen has been actively participating in various professional services. He is an invited reviewer for several high-impact international journals in his field. He was absorbed by the Nondestructive Structural Monitoring and Diagnosis Technical Committee under ASME and became the youngest member on the committee.
